  • How to write a (good) plugin/modpack/mod request

Please read the whole thread before you write a plugin, modpack or mod request. We know it may be long, but in the end it will save you and the aternos team a lot of time!

    Before you write your request

Before you write your request, please check if this plugin/modpack/mod already was requested or is already accepted.
To do so, just search for the name of the plugin in your forum search. Your plugin/modpack/mod may be denied for various reasons.
If your plugin/modpack/mod was accepted, you just need to search for it on the plugins site or in the modpacks. No need to write a request then!
Also, we would kindly ask you to only request 1-4 plugins or 1 modpack/mod in a thread because it is a lot of work for us to maintain and update these (this doesn't mean you should write a lot of threads instead! If you really want some plugins/modpacks/mods then go ahead and request them in one thread).

    Please notice:
If you already wrote a plugin request and someone refers you to this Thread DO NOT repost your Thread or answer to your old one: You can edit your Threads by clicking on the "Edit" Button on the bottom left of the text. Just edit the Thread accordingly.

    Writing your plugin request
Before you request your plugin, please check if your plugin...
    - ... is availible on the Bukkit or Spigot plugin index. We won't accept plugins that are not in there!
    - ... is directly available there. If the button looks like the button in the screenshot, we won't add the plugin:
    - ... isn't outdated. To do so just look into the "facts"/"informations" section on the right side of the plugins's bukkit website
    - ... is available for free
Here are two examples of outdated plugins:
    Bukkit:

    Spigot:

As you can see, both plugins were last updated in 2013. Pretty outdated! We won't accept plugins like this! In general, any plugin that hasn't been updated in more than 10 months will probably not be added.
    - ... isn't still developed. If there is a banner on the page like the following one, it won't be updated anymore. Even if it was updated not long ago, we won't add it:

If your plugin meets all these requirements then... congratulations! You can now write your plugin request:

The title should be something like this:
    [Plugin Request] Plugin name here

Please then provide the following informations in the thread:
    - The name of your plugin
    - The link to the plugin page on bukkit/spigot (we don't need the direct download link!)
    - A small description of the requested plugin in your own words

Here is an example of a good plugin request:

    [Plugin Request] Essentials
Hi Aternos Team, can you please add the following plugin?
    Plugin name: Essentials
    Plugin link: dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/essentials/
Description: Essentials adds a lot of useful commands to Minecraft. It's already used by a lot of servers.
    Thank you!

Of course Essentials is already in our plugin list but this should just be an example on how you can do it right :)

After you have submitted your request, just wait for our response, we we typically answer in 1-48 hours, but sometimes we need longer, so be patient (however, if your request is over 1-2 months old and no one answered it, just write a short answer to your request so we see it.).

    Writing your modpack request
This is only for modpacks. If you want to request a single mod, please scroll down further.
The title of a modpack request should be something like this:

    [Modpack Request] Modpack name here

In the thread itself you just need to provide the name, the link to the modpack and a short description of the modpack(in your own words). Your modpack sould obviously have a server version. It should also be pretty popular: We won't accept any of these small, unpopular modpacks. Also, it is not important how many mods a modpack includes!

Example for a good modpack request:

[Modpack Request] Attack of the B-Team
    Hello Aternos Team,
can you please add the Modpack "Attack of the B-Team"?
    Link to the modpack: technicpack.net/modpack/attack-of-the-bteam.552556
Attack of the B-Team is the first modpack from the Technic Launcher team. It includes already known mods, such as NEI, MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod and combines these with new unique mods such as qCraft and Tropicraft.
    Thank you!

    Where to find the modpack?
    TechnicPack Modpacks
    Feed The Beast Modpacks
    Google :)
We will most likely add modpacks from the TechnicPack or FTB Launcher, because modpacks that are not in one of these launchers are often very unpopular.

After you have submitted your request, just wait for our response. Modpack requests need a longer time to process, maybe a week or two, so be patient (however, if your request is over 1 month old and no one answered it, just write a short answer to your request so we see it.).

    Writing your (single) mod request
Before you write a mod request, make sure your mod is popular and keep in mind that you can't combine mods, you can only play with one mod at a time! Also keep in mind that you can only install one mod at a time!

The title of the Mod request should look like this:

    [Mod Request] Mod XYZ

In the Thread itself, please provide the following information:
    - Name of the mod
    - Link to the mod (not the download link, just the link to the mod page)
    - A short description of the mod (in your own words and in full sentences)

Here is an example for a mod request:
    [Mod Request] Lucky Blocks

    Hello Aternos Team,
can you please add the Mod "Lucky Blocks"?
    Link to the mod: minecraftforum.net/forums/mapp…ms-spawns-mobs-structures
Lucky Blocks is a mod that adds "Lucky Blocks" to your minecraft world. You can mine them and get various items, sometimes good, sometimes bad. This mod is very popular at the moment as it's played by a lot of YouTube Let's Players.
    Thank you!
After you have submitted your request, just wait for our response. Modpack requests need a longer time to process, maybe a week or two, so be patient (however, if your request is over 1 month old and no one answered it, just write a short answer to your request so we see it.).

    Best regards,

    Bennett from the Aternos Team
