Nether portal doesnt work

Me and my friends were playing on a server that we created today, we made the nether portal (4×5) and set it on fire to activate it. We tried building another portal with the same dimension and it wouldnt activate when we set it on fire. we tried going back to our original portal to break it and rebuilt it to see if that would fix it but none of the portal got activated after that

Try a portal that has 5 blocks on either side going up with 2 between them on top and bottom.

Also what's your server software and version?

If you play on 1.16.2, it's a bug that still needs to be fixed
