zed yes you can ive done it in the past and pex is life

essentials-x is basicly essentials just abit moreusefull well to me because it allowed me to set item prices in game regular essentials did not let me

command blocks are like op I suggest getting a plugin like pex and using permission nodes and essentials give node is essentials.item.(look this on up)

i am having the same issue I'm trying to fix it might be because of a large map and aternos since its taking to long it stops
I been using a mod with a auto join feture so once available I join it

this mod pack is cool and allowes the people that cant play pixel mon with there friends on your servers since pixelspark requires 2 gb this mod pack requires the 1 gb and has a few useful mods
