WTH, I literally started having this glitch today, alson in 1.18.2. What mods do you use?? I tried to use the Fake Water from SecurityCraft and it worked normally, but still water and lava is bugged.
I'm using create with some create addons and just a bunch of QOL mods.
So, on this server for my friends this glitch where when you place water in the overworld it removes itself like your in the nether. When we tried it in the nether it still acted the same. When we do it in the overworld there is a sound effect that only the person that is not placing the water can hear, it is the sound effect when you place water in the nether. We tried it with lava and it still acts the same. This is a modded server and I did try it with one of the moded liquids and it also disappeared.
