If you know of the mod TerraFirmaPunk, it is essentially an expansion on that mod to be more steampunk themed. The modpack itself reworks Minecraft survival and progression system and makes it a much harder experience. Progression is through an "age" system, where you start off picking up stone and stick from the ground to make simple stone tools (as you can no longer make wood tools, and you can't punch trees for wood, and the crafting system is mostly completely redone), and move on to where you can finally create metals and reach a point where you can finally make machines that simplify some processes.
