I know the difference between RAM and storage but nowhere on the website does it state that you only have 4GB of "storage", I was under the assumption that the storage would be adaptable.

2. I don't know where you got that "4GB" then
3. if your server is CPU bottlenecked then more RAM wont help. We also don't can't assign as much RAM as we want. We are still a free service.

1. You're confusing RAM and storage here. Aternos servers have 4GB of storage but the RAM depends on the software and version. There is no software with 4GB of RAM.
2. Performance depends on more than just RAM.
3. I test a modpack before I claim it is too heavy. There is a certain point at which it just doesn't make sense to assign more resources to a modpack.
