You can add datapacks by downloading the world, adding the datapack and uploading that.

Then you can use thanos (https://github.com/aternosorg/thanos) to remove unused chunks. I made a short tutorial on how to use it (http://bit.ly/2InxFki).

A mod/modpack might run just fine when you started to use it. But it can brake at any time. Cause the more you use it, the more RAM you need, and since aternos has a RAM limit (Cant rly complain, its free) then it will eventually give up and start to crash.
