the lag was constant and it got worse when one of my friends joined. I am using minecraft 1.15.1

I am having really bad lag in my server. one example is after i shoot a mob with a bow it takes a couple seconds for it to land and another example is that any redstone machine either doesn't work or takes a very long time to work. please help. I can walk around just fine but every thing else is super lagy
