oh, afaik, magma is optimized and also lets you plugins besides just mods.
But if you decide to switch to magma, make backups first
magma is only for 1.12.2 but my server is 1.15.2...

papermc should have good render distances, the rest is lower on newer versions (1.13x/1.14x/1.15x) for a bit more optimization. Papermc is optimized on itself
papermc doesn't work for forge. I have a forge server. Do you know what I could use for that?

We should be able to change it. Why can't we? It's so low it's frustrating. Please let us change the render distance (unless there is some really big reason why it needs to be super low) !

Ok, I'm embarrassed, I was missing a mod. I am able to join my world, but I still have that "incompatible FML" message

Make sure you have all the mods the server has, on exactly the same versions.
I will check again.

What the heck does "incompatible FML modded server Server mod list is not compatible" and "failure to synchronize registry data from server, closing connection" mean??? I have the exact same version of forge, and all the exact same mods and their versions as installed on my server installed on my computer.
