I just got minecraft last week so I'm still a little unfamiliar with the program. I know this is a common problem, but I've read through dozens of help forums and tried countless solutions and still can't log onto a server. Every time I try to join a server, regardless of the host, it brings up the typical io.letty.connectiontimeoutxception error. I've done the basic restarting minecraft and my laptop, restarting our router, and disabling the firewall but still can't join. Last night I tried out the Minecraft discord and they sent me a link to an official test server and I WAS able to successfully join that. The person on discord said there must be a problem with the specific servers I'm trying to join. So I guess what I'm asking is do you have any idea of how to fix this problem or if there might a setting on my server preventing me from joining?

Have you been able to join other servers in the past? I have been having the same problem but I'm able to join a basic minecraft test server

There are several basic fixes as well like disabling your firewall, restarting your router or device, and logging out of minecraft; have you tried that?
