So to be able to see skins I'd have to start the world over complete on online mode?

Hi! I'm trying to change this server that me and my buds are playing in from cracked to offline mode since everyone on the server has bought Minecraft and we wanted to be able to see our skins and such. However, I'm noticing that whenever I try and change the world from cracked to uncracked and hop in to see how things look, I get two different worlds/saves that I'm in. One is the most recent one with the cracked setting on, the other one is what I'm guessing is an older save with the cracked setting off. Any clue as to why this happens and how I could possibly resolve this so that we can play on this server with the skins visible and have the most recent version of the world loaded? Many thanks! : )
