I've noticed that there are problems running the Essentials plugin in Spigot. Upon rigorous review and search, I've discovered a project that is aimed at maintaining the Essentials project and keeping it compatible. At the time of writing this, the latest version is compatible with Spigot minecraft server version 1.8.8. The project and download location can be found here:
