There are currently no plans to allow this as this is not possible with the current system design on how modpacks work at Aternos under the hood.
Also the effort required to change this is probably higher than the benefit

Do you see a connection attempt in the console when you try to join?

You can edit mod and plugin as you want on e.g. bukkit or forge servers
The only thing which is not possible is to edit mod or modpack configuration files of pre-made modpacks from our modpack section on the software page: https://aternos.org/software/modpacks/

Your server is taking too long to start. Try to remove some mods

With the max-build-height setting you can only lower the maximum build height, it's not possible to raise it higher than 256
