Changing from vanilla to paper won't affect the world and it's safe to change

In my Vanilla server i have a lot of lag because of farms and other things, i saw that if i use Paper it is better, so my question is: if i change the software from Vanilla to Paper, it changes something in the world??? Is it safe to change software?

You should be able to update your server with no problem when the new update comes out. If you're afraid something breaks you can always do a backup of your 1.19.3 world before updating. The new biomes usually spawn on chunks that haven't been generated yet so it won't grief your already existing world.

Hello, i have a Vanilla Server with my brother and we play Survival, my question is, how can i safely update the world from 1.19.3 to 1.20 (when it comes out), without incurring in bugs or something bad? And how the world will update? For example: the mangrove swamps will spawn in new chunks or in existing and explorated chunks? Or both? Thank you for the help!
