go to software then spigot then 1.8.8 spigot and install it, this is the link spigot 1.8.8

then go to plugins search the plugin you want install the version you want of the plugin and configure the plugin it is ready

and try to generate new world

are you sure that it is a 1.8.8 spigot?

i see it like it is 1.14 snapshot and as most people know snapshots is very unstable
