so me and my friend's server was on 1.17 and now today my friend dm'ed me on discord saying it was on 1.17.1, which it had to have done automatically because nobody else has the access to change the version and I didn't. why did it change versions now I can't use optifine on it and we have to let everyone know it updated

you should probably make sure that all of your plugins are being used, so that you aren't wasting any space

try using some performance mods, like performant to make it run both faster and also it'll probably use less memory

and honestly this applies to any mod that isn't allowed because of performance issues, i would rather have the game run laggy but be able to use the mods instead of not having it, cuz dynmap would be really really cool and useful on my server

so the dynmap plugin/mod basically makes a realtime map of your server on a browser site. it can't be used with aternos, probably mostly because of the performance impact. i really want to test dynmap though and also on my server i have a performance mod that makes it run a ton faster, so maybe you could allow it to be used but you need a performance plugin or mod?

But now it's pure garbage, it constantly disconnects and there's so many problems that you can't even call it a 'server software' anymore

Maybe if you actually accepted donations you could upgrade stuff and make it good again

But no, you don't want donations because 'it would never pay for anything'

its impossible to play on the servers because it disconnects me every 5 minutes, even though my wifi and my computer are fine

Mobs spawn next to torches a lot, a skeleton spawned in a lit-up area and killed me, I actually saw 2 zombies spawn next to a torch, a creeper spawned in a lit-up area and nearly killed me, etc.

Oh yeah and mobs always spawn within 24 blocks of me

also its very infuriating because I had a lot of levels that took me 3 hours to get, then I died because of a skeleton that spawned in a lit-up area and within 24 blocks of me

it's unbearably laggy, glitches out a ton, which causes countless deaths

and it ruined my youtube series so that was pretty frustrating

and no it's not my computer or wifi, because my computer can run Minecraft fine, and my wifi can handle multiplayer fine

My computer can run Minecraft fine, my wifi can run servers fine, so why do aternos servers glitch out so much to the point where it's unplayable

And by glitching out I mean something like when you move and then it teleports you back to where you were 5 seconds ago

I've died countless times because of the lag and the glitching
