That may be so. The problem is in most cases not the bandwidth of the connection but the distance the IP packets travel from your home to our servers.

Other networks are hosted at different locations/hosters. IP packets have a different way through the internet to reach their designated destination.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Surprisingly, the individual servers of such networks allocated less RAM to a single server than we did in most cases (Depending on use-case).

But this has something to do with the fact that the software/plugins and mods used by the networks are developed and optimized specifically for a certain use case. We, on the other hand, try to cover the largest possible usage scenario. You can't compare hypixel or other big server/networks with Aternos.

That depends on the mods on the servers, the amount of players, your progress, and which features of which mods you use.

In the range of a view distance of e.g. 5-10 the effect of this setting on the RAM usage is rather small as it defines a radius. The larger this value is the higher is the RAM Usage just for the loaded chunks

Absolute RAM eaters are the mods themselves.

There are currently no plans to add this option due to several reasons.

In order to get your initial problem solved:

The Timed Out message indicates either a connection problem or an overload of the server. In case of a modded server the second is not uncommon.

If tried to find your Aternos account and from what I see there you're from Asia. Our servers are located in Europe - This fact brings connection problems further into focus.

I would recommend you as first to find out if the problem is related to the server or to the connection.

The best way is to check on a vanilla server if the problem persists there. Please note that it does not make sense to start a Vanilla server, join it and directly leave again to say - nope, it's not related to that.

Play some time on it and see what happens.

If the problem persists on Vanilla, it is very likely that there is a connection problem.

no, there is no problem with vanilla servers, they are running successful, but i need to change chunk loads, i know its the problem, when you try to join, a mod called "WildNature" configured as a world generator: "WorldType=WildNature", try to load 10 heavy chunks to the players, but they are not idle at connection. so... server is loading terrain for players, after 30 seconds"default read.timeout" then they are kicked out for read timeout, but they not, i pinged the domain of my server (nutag87.aternos.me), it running at 20ms-40ms , and its really good, its not 40mbps, but its fast, & good for playing with no lags, i know the problem is heavy chunks, "10" value is very heavy for this server to load up the players, sometimes it works and success join, but sometimes not. if you don't understand, i will run my server now, and try to join, also i have the modpack: http://www.mediafire.com/file/w65lq0c3f0kt5d6/mods.rar/file

at least 6gb ram of minecraft Xmx required to join

This isn't a connection problem i know, my internet speed is over than 40mbps and its really good, i know, it will stuck at loading terrain, and then it loads up, and player will be kicked: reason: timedout. this isn't connection issue, i have connected to other networks like herobrine.org, hypixel.net and more, this isn't happen, because number of chunks in those servers are lower than 10 or they are using much more ram in their servers. "i mean 10 chunks are very high for 30 mods server with only 1700mb of ram!", it will be steal a large amount of ram of my server and this is because the player will be kicked out. i need to lower this option, i mean, please add this option soonly as possible. in options tab. please.

I Maked My server and want my friends to join, they join timed out and many times happened. also for me. i want to find server.properties in files tab and i can't found it to change view-distance=10 option to 4. im tired, why you staff wasn't added view distance option in options tab yet? i can't join my server, and it automaticly shutdown it self "because of no players inside".

can someone help me please, its a BUG. add view-distance option with 20 limit on options tab please. PLEASE.
