That's not a permission node. You can find MyHome's permission nodes here: https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/myhome

myhome.user is a permission node that you could insert into the LordPermissions configuration file for example.

I recommend you to watch some tutorials of permission managing plugins like PermissionsEX, Essentials Group Manager, LordPermissions, … to get an idea of how permission managing plugins work.

Find the permission nodes of MyHome and insert them into the group of which you want that they have that permission.

Well, you have to find out the reason why it doesn't work. Only then you will be able to fix the problem.

We would rather like if the original plugin author uploaded the plugin to DevBukkit or SpigotMC himself so the plugin is kept updated there.

Did you check the server console log for more detailed error information yet? Are you sure you set the signs correctly?

If it says that, you installed the wrong version. The original Essentials plugin only works up to Minecraft version 1.7.10.
