  • Hi guys,

    Server type: PaperMC

    Plugins used: advanced teleport, essentials.

    Server version: 1.15.2

    1. Faced with an issue where the mob spawn rates are non existent in my mob farm. Created a 9x9 dark farm in order to spawn all mobs except endremen & spiders but it is failing to spawn at the usual rate. I get 2 - 3 creepers every 15 minutes.

    2. Does the mending enchantment not work? I've got a sword with Mending on it which fails to provide me with the necessary XP to repair itself. The same applies to a hoe. Once using it on my vegetable farm, it does not provide any XP.

Would be glad to receive some assistance with this.

    Thanks in advance,

    nichukabra

EDIT: it's worth noting that mobs are present (sometimes too many) when I am away from this farm. The farm itself is located 200 blocks in the air. The server difficulty is set to normal.

Edited once, last by nichukabra: Added more details ().

  • Thanks for the reply PitTopo,

From what google translate has managed to translate, I understood that you want me to use another tool while repairing the tool with mending on it. Or to cook precious metals.

Is this how mending is set up on this server hosting website? From what I know, mending is meant to give a lot of XP upon correct use of the tool - i.e: killing mobs with a mending sword will constantly repair it to 100% and give the excess XP to the player.

  • Try to add plunder and/or fortune on your tool for gain more xp.

However you can disenchant the old tools for gain xp if you haven't many precious materials "to cook"

P.S. I don't take responsibility for any errors in the post.

  • Sure, I will try that.

However this doesn't solve anything. This isn't how mending is meant to work as far as I'm aware.

Do you have any ideas about the mob spawns?

Have you checked that you are in the mob spawn area? Because you may have changed it in the settings (it is useful to reduce the spawn area of the mobs because it reduces the lag).

I read now your first post. Try to use a normal sword for attack the mob and put the sword with Mending in second hand

Furthermore, it controls the lighting level in the surrounding area.

What do you mean by spawn area?

Just to be clear - this isn't a spawner.

I have also tried standing in the area where the mobs should spawn (imagine a 2 block high room 9x9 in size) in complete darkness and no mobs ended up spawning.

Where are these settings that I can manipulate?
