Entities become invisible after death?

For some reason, whenever I die other players/entities become invisible, even myself when I toggle F5 thirdperson. The only way to fix this is to reload chunks or rejoin the server, which gets tedious and annoying. This doesn't happen to other players. Is there a better way to fix this?

I realize this is a chunk loading problem that might have to do with optifine. If I walk out of a certain area and let those chunks unload, they disappear forever. If I return to that certain area entities will stay unloaded.
