Unexpected custom data from client

    Heyo me and my friends have a modded server but some of my friends couldnt join the server and the "Unexpected custom data from client" keeps showing up for them which is weird. i checked all the mods from my friends and the server, its all correct but for some reason they can't hop in. Is there a way to fix this?
