So hello im worried that when 1.20 comes out will it auto update to that im on 1.19 with the forge software installed and is far in the game with my friends im not sure if i have to fully restart the server to update its version

There are no even plans of releasing 1.20, or at least a date.
Once it comes out it shouldn’t be automatically updated unless you choose that.
