Its depends on how big your map is. If your map is big it will take a minutes and if your map is small it can take seconds. If your having problem while uploading 50 mb map on your server maybe your connection has a problem or just try it again.

Well, you could hace just regenerated the chunks using MCEdit. That usually fix it.
