But I think I've already seen this bug somewhere. As far as I know it's a bug of worldedit.. but I'm quite unsure...

That's a "feature" of minecraft that sand (and also gravel) breaks if it lands on torches and half slabs etc. You can't really do anything about it, except of avoiding sand to land on torches etc...

to change the gamemode you need the command

/gamemode 1

for creative, for survival just replace the 0 with a 1.

if this doesn't work, try to op yourself through the console (type /op [username]) and then retry it, or do the command /gamemode 1 [username] in the console
