We have support articles on how to set world types for mods as well. Besides this, the mod itself might give information on the worldtype that has to be set in their wiki, curseforge page or other things. And if not, you can always generate a world in singleplayer and upload it

In fact, if we allow such feature, the Aternos company can get into real trouble. This goes from being sued, all the way to (possibly) being shut down. Is that what you want?

Yes. But always make backups before switching softwares and versions if you don't wanna lose your world.

The render distance is set to what works the best for that version and software, I always recommend to use papermc for optimization and higher render distance,if you do not intend to use mods or modpacks.

Remove the mod "imsm"

You'll still need to have the version installed on your server that has the new nether, either as snapshot or when released, so that you can even get it
