Hi!
The last weeks and months were a tough time, for you, for us and for the entire world. As you might know from our last announcement the global pandemic hit us hard and we even had to cut down our costs causing long queueing times. This led to us rethinking our work and discussing ways to avoid such a situation in the future. But before announcing our solution and our next big step as a company we want to make this clear: Aternos is financially stable again and has recovered from the crisis. Aternos will stay Free. Forever.
We've learned a lot in the last 7+ years that we are running Aternos and built a platform to run game servers on demand on a massive scale. Often users came to us and wanted more from us, bigger servers, better performance etc., which is simply impossible for free. Many users were even willing to pay and demanded from us the ability to pay for their servers. Eventually, those users left Aternos and switched to a paid hosting provider. We want to offer a solution to those users but were never interested in building another 24/7 host, there already exist hundreds if not thousands of providers offering that. Instead, we took what we've learned over the years to build something that we personally love and decided to build a new, second platform for high-end on demand game servers.
Today, we are excited to announce the launch of exaroton - the only paid game server host where you don't have to waste your money when you don't need your server. On exaroton, you only pay when your server is online and you can automatically shut it down when nobody is playing. Your server is, of course, saved in-between your sessions. Read more about it and get started on our website:
You will probably notice that exaroton is pretty similar to Aternos since they are both based on the same infrastructure and software. While the physical machines running the game servers are separated between the two projects, they share many parts of the core infrastructure. This allows us to develop and improve both projects at the same time as well as boost exaroton with stable and experienced technology from the first day on. We strongly believe that Aternos will profit from this as well and it actually has already. In the last months, we have restructured large parts of our system and added features (e.g. domains) in preparation of this launch. While both projects are very close technically, we want to keep both projects independent financially. exaroton users will not pay for Aternos users, Aternos is completely funded through ads and will continue to offer the maximum of what is possible for free. Aternos is not a trial version of exaroton and exaroton is not the "premium" version of Aternos.
With all that said, we hope you are as excited about this as we are and we are looking forward to your feedback and ideas. However, bugs may occur and things might not work perfectly yet. We are just slowly launching exaroton today and will try to get everything smoothly running in the next days and weeks.
Your Aternos & exaroton Team

Should be fixed, please try again.

The achievement property is no longer supported in newer Minecraft versions. You should use the gamerule instead: /gamerule announceAdvancements false

Sizes might be added, but we don't store any dates, so that's not possible.

Hi!
It's time for our "Corona statement". I know you've probably read a ton of them in the last days so you know what's going on. This is not about our staff or anything like that, we are fine and at home. I want to give you a quick update on what's going on and explain our current situation.
The last days have been insane for us, our player numbers have exploded, faster than ever before. We've hit 100,000 concurrent players, which is a huge milestone for us. This is all, of course, due to quarantines, laws and especially closed schools. We've been working hard to keep our service up and stable as good as we can and we would love to reach even higher peaks together with you.
But we always have to keep an eye on our revenue. We are 100% funded through ads and as you probably know, the economy, in general, is not doing well which directly affects the ad budgets of lots of companies and therefore also affects our revenue. We still display the same or even more ads but get less for that. We've worked closely with all of our partners in the last days to try to improve our revenue (e.g. through the new ad unit when you start your server) and reduce our expenses (e.g. through the reenabled AFK timeout). Those small measures have helped but still aren't enough for us to cover our expenses. This forces us to implement more drastic measures, especially cutting down our hosting cost by reducing our on-demand cloud usage, which means that we will have fewer resources in total to host servers and therefore expect longer queueing times.
We don't like doing that and we know that you don't like waiting in the queue either, but it's necessary for our company and our service to stay profitable and therefore alive. I know this sounds alarming, but I'm pretty sure that we will get through this. We've saved up enough money and are able to bear the losses of the last and the following days. But we want to take action as early as possible to ensure the stability of our service with as much certainty as we can.
Rest assured that we will continue to work on improvements to increase our service and our revenue and lift the limits again. We reevaluate the situation on a daily basis and decide what we can and can't allow.
In the meantime, we want to say thank you for staying with us in those tough times and wish you all the best.
Stay safe,
Your Aternos Team 💙

Thank you for your suggestions!
1.Automatic backup name change
Sounds like a good idea, we will look into that.
2.Always appearing browser notification ask message
That's probably an issue with your browser. Which browser do you use and do you get notifications?

Thank you for your suggestion, I've just added that to mclo.gs.

We've now added McMMO from Songoda.
-
We only add paid plugins from Songoda with the consent of the developer, we've previously reached out to add McMMO, but the dev didn't really give a clear answer. If you want McMMO to be added, ask him, he can enable the plugin for us.
-
Thank you for your suggestions! Here are some thoughts about them:
1. Auto refresh the mod/plugin search
Possible, but might create a heavy load on the database and I don't see the big benefit that would be worth it.
2. Multiple backup deletes
Noted, for the "files" page this was already planned, but with a very low priority. I've added the backups to that.
3. Confirm messages
There is already a confirm message when you restore backups. Do you want to change it or what do you mean?

And we have another update for this experimental snapshot.
More information and download here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Minec…_snapshot_number_3_and_a/
Server version is updated here: https://aternos.org/software/v/snapshot/combat
Again, please only use them on new worlds and to test things and don't update your current world to that snapshot. Mojang has created a Combat Test Map, which you can download here: https://launcher.mojang.com/ex…3/Combat%20Test%20Map.zip
