From my experience, Java 8 > Java 11 does up the performance noticably. Tho, you might see that some plugins don't work anymore, but that should be the rare exception given Paper pushes to Java 11 minimum as of 1.17

Aternos doesn't modify anything. We take the software's server.jar and start that with java, it's all up to java and the server.jar to do their thing. It might be that you experience fewer mobs spawning because the server doesn't have as many resources as in other paid hosts, but villagers not breeding can be caused by some stuff like mobGriefing being off etc. So instead of always blaming the easy one to blame, look somewhere else first

This time it's actually no error, but the server just taking too long to start. You can either try again or remove some mods you dont need
