For help regarding Aternos, we recommend you to visit our support center.

You can access the level.dat, tho not directly in Aternos. You can download your world, edit level.dat, then upload only level.dat again

Good info! thanks! However, I have some fun news! By putting it into vanilla and setting everything to easy (and not peaceful) in vanilla, and then reinstalling spigot, the bug is fixed! Based on this conversation, https://www.spigotmc.org/threa…ifficulty-setting.451984/ I discovered that for whatever reason Spigot has issues changing the difficulty of anywhere other than the overworld, but if you generate a new world spigot is just happy to use that new world's difficulty. I figured I'd give it a shot setting the world difficulty in vanilla, where I know it works, and then handing the world off the spigot, and it worked! I think if I want to change the difficulty of a dimension reliably, I'll have to do it in vanilla, for the time being. Thanks for all your help Roman and Toothy

We don't develop the software, we just provide the servers.

In addition, the whole "difficulty"-topic on servers is a very sensitive topic for software developers.

They all know better how to do it right and everywhere it works a little differently. (Why ever they can't adopt the behavior of Vanilla...) That's also why we need support articles for that...

hmmm. I've looked at a quite a few support docs that have given me some ideas, but most of them require access to the Level.dat file, which I don't think aternos gives me. I think (maybe?) you are a moderator or something from aternos? would you have access to my level.dat?

Can you test the same with Vanilla?

Also when you're on vanilla try setting it to hard and then to easy using the /difficulty command

The bug is gone in Vanilla, without needing commands. The commands work as intended in Vanilla. Thank you for your persistent help! I really appreciate it. Is there a way to fix the bug in spigot or paper? because I'd really like to have my plugins

It looks like this is a bug in Spigot.

Can you please check if the issue persists on newer Spigot versions and/or on Paper?

I can confirm that the issue persists in both spigot and paper 1.16.5. I will say that in Paper, the nether at least recognized (when I first started it up) that it was on peaceful mode, and using the difficulty easy command, it "changed to easy". My client then also decided it was on easy. However, my hunger still didnt drain in the nether (it does in the overworld) and no hostile mobs spawned in the nether (as they do in the overworld) so despite all the evidence saying the nether was on easy, it was pretty clear its still on peaceful.

I'm kinda new to this. Can i do that without messing up my world or my worldguard stuff that I've set up? I'm giving it a shot lol, it seems to easy to swap for it to erase stuff.

You can see that on the server page. There is a field called Software.

Do you use some sort of Multiworld plugin?

Ah, I see it. I use Spigot. Other than the spigot/bukkit package aternos provides for installation, I installed WorldGuard and WorldEdit (again, through Aternos) and that's it.

    Are you on Spigot/Paper?

    This might help: https://support.aternos.org/hc…or-Spigot-PaperMC-servers

I could be wrong since I'm new at this stuff, but if it's possible to do this, I think I have Bukkit without spigot or paper. Anyways, I ran those commands (which I had basically already done simply by going to those dimensions and doing /difficulty etc.) and the server is convinced that they are already set to easy, meanwhile, no mobs spawn, my hunger does not deplete, etc. My client still says its on peaceful there. Since restarting, some of the more wacky bugs have dissapeared but I still can't get the nether to run on Easy instead of Peaceful. Sometimes piglins will spawn, but nothing else? and only sometimes.

For some reason, my server has the overworld on Easy and for a while the Nether was stuck on Peaceful. Now, finally, after several hours of working on the problem and trying random things, when I'm in the nether it SAYS I'm on Easy, but still, my hunger doesn't deplete and no mobs spawn. I've been looking at all sorts of solutions across the internet, but nothing seems to work. I thought maybe if I could access the Level.dat files, I could go in and try and manually change the Nether's difficulty value to 1, but it seems aternos doesn't allow that level of file manipulation on the website. My server has Bukkit, World Edit and World Guard. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me. Thank you

EDIT: The more I'm here, the more im realizing other little bugs like hunger not depleting, but health also not replenishing (except randomly it will) and villagers offering free trades that I can't actually take and stuff like that. Is there a way to debug my really messed up world?

EDIT2: my game has officially rubberbanded back to peaceful, without me changing anything. Aternos still says its on easy, but my client says its on peaceful. Mobs are still spawning. Everything is confusing. Please help
