Mind that the original Essentials plugin only works up to Minecraft version 1.7.10. For newer Minecraft versions please use alternatives such as EssentialsX or Bssentials.

Make sure to install the DevBukkit version of Factions.

If you checked the server console log you would have found out that you have to type in /fml confirm in order to proceed with the starting process. I've done that for you now so you don't have to do it anymore unless the mod pack is updated.
