In your PermissionsEX configuration file remove the backslash and put in quotation marks like this: '*'

Make sure to install and configure plugins while your server is offline.

Mind that the original Essentials plugin only works up to Minecraft version 1.7.10. For newer Minecraft versions you have to use alternatives such as EssentialsX or Bssentials.

Then the servers you've seen probably use a customized plugin that outputs the text into the chat.

Maybe this is modifiable in the plugin's configuration file.

What text notifications do you mean exactly? They're probably caused by command blocks or plugins.

Maybe this will be possible in future, but at the moment it's very complicated since mods aren't as easy to install as plugins. Mods are more likely to conflict with each other.

We only keep the latest version of a mod or mod pack, otherwise the management effort would be too high.

That's why there's a "Forgot password" function.
We can only add plugins that are available for free.

Additionally, technically it wouldn't even make sense to add BuyCraft. Even if we allowed our users to make money of it they couldn't since BuyCraft requires a static IP address to work but actually Aternos only offers a dynamic IP address.

You have to install the exact same version of the mod pack on your own computer too to be able to join the server. You can't just use the plain Minecraft 1.7.10 version for joining a mod pack server.
