If you checked the server console you would have find out that you have to type in /fml confirm into it to proceed with the starting process. I've done that for you now so you don't have to do it anymore in future unless the mod is updated.

There was an error with Mojang's authentication servers, this has nothing to do with Aternos. Just try to join the server later again.

The original Essentials plugin isn't updated anymore, so we can't fetch new updates if there aren't any, of course. There are alternatives such as EssentialsX and Bssentials though. These are forks of Essentials and work on newer versions too.
