Aternos will never ask you to pay for anything or offer you a paid plan.
It's a 100% free service that you can always use only for free and with only the benefits and features you have already. There's no such thing as server upgrading, paid plans or extra features.

Alternatively, there's a different hosting service from the same guys who made Aternos, on which you can really pay to get better servers. It's called exaroton, and you can check it out here: https://exaroton.com/

Aternos's system stopped your server because it took too long for it to start. This can happen when a server is overloaded (too many plugins/mods, resource-heavy modpack, etc.). Aternos's system automatically stops servers if they don't respond within a certain amount of time to prevent them from getting stuck during startup. Especially in the afternoon (Central European Time), when many servers run simultaneously, servers running big modpacks sometimes take too long to start. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done about this. You can only try to start your server again at another time, remove some resources (e.g. plugins/mods) and if you use a modpack try a smaller one. (edited)

I don't think aternos will add that mod as the mod provides features that aternos disallows such as the ability to stop the server from a command from a discord channel.

that error message means that you're missing a mod that was installed on your server or you downloaded the incorrect version of the mod that was installed on your server.

Share your client log:
1. open your minecraft installation path (enter %appdata%/.minecraft in the file explorer )

"Doesn't work" is not a good description of your problem.

What did you expect to happen?
What actually happened?

That's normal, aternos is funded by ads, without the users viewing the ads on their website they won't be funded.
