everything in that article on opera browser (mine) is off on aternos, and when I click "continue with ads" I can actually still see the exaraton ads

If you don't see ads (besides the ones for exaroton), something on your computer or in your network is blocking them.
Make sure that
- You don't have any browser add-ons installed that could block ads or modify the content of websites
- You don't have any ad blocking software installed on your computer (e.g. AdGuard or antivirus software that also blocks ads)
- There is no network filter installed in your home network

Why does aternos work on a different browser when I disabled ad blocker? (firefox) Wouldn't that mean that the 2. and 3. advice isn't the problem?
-
If ads work in different browsers on the same device, the issue is likely caused by the browser itself or an installed browser addon.

I am using uBlock Origin on Firefox, and I am getting no anti-adblock message. What browser are you using? Chrome and some other browsers have made intentionally changes to break adblock.
