uploading images

we recently added the custom images plugin to our server. But we cant use it because it requires an image to be uploaded to the server files. It would be nice if we could upload files or request and upload to the files so that we could have these sort of plugins work. As of now the Custom Images plugin is completely useless and is unable to work correctly, and I would like to see a change so that we could use these types of plugins.
