I don't seem to be able to find the EssentialsChat plugin however I have been informed that it does exist on Aternos.

2. make sure its compatible with ur server version https://aternos.org/addons/a/bukkit/essentials
by compatible i mean check if the version of essentials your downloading is compatible with your server version.

I still can’t get it to work. Do you know what version of essentials, essentials chat and essentials spawn I might need for my 1.8 server as it just says there was a problem while running in the log
