But if you really want to, download ALL the mods the modpack has, then add your own!

This can work but I don't recommend it as some modpacks have configs for different mods in the pack, for example a change in crafting recipe and such.
But yes adding mods to a modpack would be nice, especially if you want to optimize the modpack with optimization mods.
Our current system doesn't allow this and it eould probably make updating impossible.
