Joining a modded server with forge should work if you do everything right.
Without known the exact setup, mods and error messages I can't tell you what the issue was...

You installed Fabric API for the 1.18 snapshots while your server is running 1.17.1

The size shouldn't be a problem.
Can you please explain what exactly you do and what happens? Any error messages?

You may have to set a specific level-type.
Click the generate button on the worlds page and fill the world-type field.
The correct value for that value can be found in the mod documentation

Try removing a mod called thebasicelementsv2 / guru

The server is online as long as someone plays on it

wenn es keine umstände macht, kannst du gern mal selbst versuchen einen server zu starten mit minecolonies auf 1.17
Hab ich schon.
Wenn du beim starten in die Konsole schaust siehst du warum dieser crasht. Weshalb Forge das auch nicht in den Log schreibt weiß ich nicht, vermutlich ein anderer Forge bug.
Wenn du multi-piston nicht entfernen kannst dann installiere bitte die mod blockui.
Konkret sagt der Server:

Please double-check that your client has the same mod collection as the server

From the log i'd say it may be related to survive or valhelsia_core

Please try enabling hardcore in the server.properties as well: https://aternos.org/files/server.properties

Please take a screenshot of the mods folder of your server and post it here
