To be honest, we can't really help you from our side. If you don't see the ads there are blocked somewhere.
We can only give you some suggestions where the issue could be.

Server software, version, installed addons etc.

i put caged mobs mod in suggestions and it comes up as not popular enough 1.16.4 mod
It was probably unpopular the last time it got requested. I added it now.

We provide the modpack in the same configuration as it's available on CF. If the mods you want are not included we can't help either.
I just tried that pack on my own and was able to join without doing any modifications to my local installation of the pack.

The path of your client log is different. Just use .minecraft/logs/latest.log to find your local log

We had that pack available in past but were forced to remove it as it did not work well.

It's trying to access resources which are only available on the client. It's probably not compatible with servers. I removed it from our database now.

Then share the server log using the share button on the log page and the client log which can be found in %appdata%/.minecraft/logs/latest.log

Please check again with your friend that the username he tries to add is really yours.
If it still does not work and he thinks he's doing everything right he could take a video and send it to us.

The creators of that pack upgraded it to 1.12.2 within the last versions.
Since then it's too heave for Aternos, I'll remove it.

1) If that's an issue in the config files of the pack it's up to the modpack creator to fix it.
He should correct the configuration files and release a new update. We don't change the configuration files of the modpacks on our own.
2) I saw that the pack was outdated on our website and tried to update it. But unfortunately the latest server files crash because of multiple versions of the same mod
