Okay, everything is correct.
Mojang removed that setting in 1.17: https://feedback.minecraft.net…-Cliffs-Part-1-1-17-Java-
Ah... ok. Well, that is disappointing. Thank you so much, appreciate you guys!

Which software and version is your server running?
Using PaperMC and version 1.17.1
You can change it by going to https://aternos.org/files/server.properties
Using 1.17.1 paper. It is not in the options of this page.
Is there no way to change max-build-height=256 in the server.properties to a lower height? Or is there another way to change it, since there doesn't seem to be that option for that file?
I believe if you check the log, that came from a different error... but I could be wrong... but no mention of "ignore" before the warning about that illegal access... as per the current available log.
I'm just guessing a migration was done to a different server at aternos?
Well, no, it really didn't say that...

But... ignore.. got it... ...just seems so much slower today.
Thank you for checking that for us! We are getting a message in the server start up now that seems to be new... ...and it is almost unplayable laggy today...

1. The raw RAM given to the server is not displayed ingame. Plugins can't accurately display it and it's up to the game how it uses that RAM
2. You have, according to the plugin, 667MB free RAM, which means that RAM is the very least of your concerns. CPU has way bigger impact on performance, RAM is actually negligible, if succifient as here
I have used info in that plugin before to query and it did display the correct memory allocation at the time, and I've made an effort in keeping the server trim... maybe just a coincidence that we suddenly experience lag with very few plugins and few players while seeming to have a lower memory allocation... maybe it will "correct itself" in the future. Thank you for the response.
Curious, supposedly we have 2100 MB of memory for the server, but today it seems laggy and I noticed that our memory for our server is set lower than expected from laggremoverplus plugin info of the server...

Can you send the link of the plugins that you tried to install on Aternos?
https://aternos.org/addons/a/bukkit/vault
https://aternos.org/addons/a/bukkit/multiverse-core
https://aternos.org/addons/a/bukkit/laggremoverplus
https://aternos.org/addons/a/bukkit/worldguard
https://aternos.org/addons/a/bukkit/worldedit
These are the ones I've mainly noticed because I have been using them for 1.16.4 Paper, but there are others that I've noticed come up the same that probably are updated for 1.16
Noticed that many of the plugins that were just available yesterday for 1.16.4 Paper MC are now listed as "No Compatible Version Found". Plugins like MultiverseCore which I just installed and used yesterday, Vault, LaggRemoverPlus, and many others are now just listed no version found... ?
What do you mean, are you adding their forum username? If so, they need to make an Aternos account. The aternos.org account is not the same as the forums account.
Oh, I didn't realize they were two different entities... I suppose I was under the impression that Aternos board members were also Aternos members... good to know, Thank you!
They could have changed their username or closed their account. See if you can ask them if they changed it.
I'll ask if they did change it, but I'm pretty sure they are an Aternos member as they were shown online and I was able to message them to relay the snafu.
I get "Username not found!" when I try to give server access to an Aternos community member DaFlatJack, I must be missing something easy...?
If I setup a whitelist so that those players on the whitelist can start the server on a server which previously did not have a whitelist, will that deny access to the server for those players not on the whitelist? I have the feeling the answer is yes, but thought I would make sure...
Is the server access option different than the actual server whitelist?
