loaded chunks are one of the factors of whats causing this.
by default, aternos sets the server view distance to a value too big for aternos.
go to https://www.aternos.org/files/server.properties
this is where more advanced server settings can be found.
set view distance to 3 to get the least ram usage.
set it to 4 if you want players to see farther.
.
I should be one to tell you this, basic, inactive or passive plugins use the least ram and cause less lag. Make a timings report before you suspect a plugin is causing lag. do '/timings paste' after 5 minutes of starting your server and do read the information listed. also paste the link here so that i can get an overview.

It's intentional
It's not an html editor. It just uses HTML like tags
thank you, i was about to waste time trying to find workarounds.

Using the Source Code Editor
, I inserted an id attribute to one of my <p> tags so that I could link that part somewhere on the thread.
I then close the Source Code Editor so that I could save the thread. However, the id attribute would disappear after I had saved it.
I want to know how I could make this work. Am I doing anything wrong, or is this intentional?

Either turn off cracked mode, or use a login plugin.
With cracked on, people can just login to accounts who are admin. They then give OP to their own accounts. A login plugin prevents this by adding passwords. -
You can use player names of those who visited the server, but if that doesn't work, use their IPs instead
See the log after 'Jean' joins, his IP will be shown at the time he visits the server, along with his name and UUID.
It should look something like this:
[Sun, 7. Mar 2021 10:08:20 UTC INFO]UUID of player example is a389c492-a4d2-3b1c-874a-f4eda9d73a50
[Sun, 7. Mar 2021 10:08:21 UTC INFO]example[/198.167.254.254:27015] logged in with entity id 44986 at ([world]-123.37792864018246, 45.0, 678.3688480753935)
[Sun, 7. Mar 2021 10:08:21 UTC INFO]
[MVP]example has joined the server.
Where the text in bold is the player IP.
then do /minecraft:ban-ip {target} {reason}
or if you have essentialsx or ban plugins, do /banip {target} {reason} -
Don't just paste the errors from your log,
try to include the whole log.
A full log can give more data about what is happening -
The server took too long to start, especially that it took minutes to load assets for Vic's Modern Warfare mod.
If the server keeps stopping while that mod is around, then you should replace it with an alternative/other version. -
For a long time, Aternos will deny access to Spigot's configuration file.
This may be disabled due to the fact that some settings are too intrusive/dangerous.However, Spigot's "Per-world Settings" will prove useful to optimization,
and it also has the settings that most performance plugins use.
Why not make use og these plugins? Some of Spigot's stuff override and hinder other
plugins' functionalities, like ClearLagg's 'mob-range' and 'chunk-limiter'(Spigot can do this!).Spigot even has optimization features no other plugins can offer...
This is why I recommend that users have partial access to Spigot's settings so that users can make better use of the limited resources. -
Oh, type "/timings on"
then after 3 minutes, "/timings paste" -
[23:12:03] [Aternos System/ERROR]: Server crashed because it ran out of memory. Try reducing the load to avoid crashes like this in the future. You ran out of memory.
You can free memory by lowering your render distance, lowering entity limits, unloading spawn area, e.t.c.
But one thing I noticed is that the server is getting laggier after each minute.
When you next join the server, could you do this:
type /timings on
then after 3 minutes type /timings report
a link will appear, open it
and paste the link here.
That report will give extra detail of what's causing the server to lag.
