You either use ProtocolSupport or ViaVersion. But as far as I know both plugins can't be installed at Aternos.

@Tiwzazahod I just started your server successfully, it seems to work fine, I do not see any problems.

Stop your server, go to the Files & Plugins page and make sure to really delete the plugin (the .jar file), not its folder. Otherwise the folder will be recreated after every restart / reload.

It's not possible to add schematic files to Aternos yet.

You can change your online mode at the My Server page. Set it to "Premium" to make this warning disappear.

Check the server console log for more detailed error information. Often times AuthMe is installed using the wrong version or misconfigured. Also, make sure to type in the command correctly.

There is no cap, you can set as many slots as you want.
How many players can be invited at once?
As many as you'd like.
Is there a huge delay when joining if the server is empty?
I honestly don't know what you mean with this. Usually, you instantly join a server, no matter whether no one is online or 15 players.
Is there an AFK timer?
Idle timeout is set to 10 minutes.
Basically, what are the differences between Aternos and Realms?
We're free, Realms is not. And Aternos is more customizable.
