restored from a backup and i cant join

My server got deleted but I had it backed up with my google drive so I made a new server, connected my google drive, and restored it from a backup. Now I can't join the server. every time i try i get an error. Ive restarted minecraft and the server several times all with the same result. I can join other servers just not this one. I tried seeing if the issue was in the world so I downloaded the world and pulled it up in single player and that worked and it was the old server world. then i tried to upload the world onto a new server because the world is the only thing that actually matters and i couldn't do that because the file is too big and apparently there is a file size limit. Does anyone know how to get restoring a backup to actually work? My friends and I spent years on that server and havent played for a few months because we all went to college and I don't want us to lose all our progress
