Hey hey!
For almost 5 years we are offering the ability to use mods on our platform, but you were never able to customise your experience with those mods.
We've listened to your requests and suggestions and today we are releasing an entirely new modding experience on Aternos.
It's still very important for us to keep our system and you secure, which is the reason why we can't allow you to upload your own mods, but it's now possible to install mods from CurseForge directly on your server just like plugins and customise these mods by modifying the config.
Here is a quick changelog to mention the most important changes:
- removed mods from software
- added forge to software
- show plugin/mod compatibility on the software page
- rewritten plugin system to allow different add-ons (plugins/mods) for different installed software
- added mod list with mods from CurseForge
- added automatic filter to only show compatible mod versions
- changed files page to show different folders for different software
- hide files/plugins/mods page in navigation if no installation is possible because of installed software
Some quick notes about this update:
- The old plugin URLs (/plugins/p/<name>) don't work anymore
- If you've installed a mod in the old system you can keep this single mod installed for some time, but we will probably remove these versions in the future.
- You can't customise modpacks: This is mainly because of how our system works and a bit also because we want to ensure that these modpacks are stable and working. We might allow this in the future.
- You can request mods here on our forums just like plugins, but we can't add mods that are not on CurseForge.
- Modding is complicated and it can fail in many ways. We can't really help you with that.
- Don't forget that you (and every other player) also have to install all mods on your computer.
We hope you enjoy the new freedom and wish you lots of fun with your custom mods,
Your Aternos-Team
