    Hey!

After the release of the official Bedrock server software by Mojang last week, we've started to think more about what we can do to improve the usability of Bedrock servers on Aternos. The biggest problem is, of course, the always changing IP address. Read more regarding that problem here: MCPE on Aternos! [+FAQ]

SRV records required for our IP system are still not available and we don't expect them to be available anytime soon. So we've tried to do whatever we can to keep the IP the same or at least don't change it often.

The easy explanation: You can now use your configurable IP (example.aternos.me) as the address of your server. The port should stay the same as long as possible but might change from time to time. This information is now way easier accessible on the server page.

More technical: Since SRV records are not available, we set a CNAME record for the configured aternos.me subdomain on every server start. You can still see the original host by clicking on "Connect" on the server page while your server is online as "DynIP". We now save the port even when your server is offline and try to use that port again when you start your server again. If the port is already used on that host, we generate a new port. To reduce the likelihood of a conflict we now use a way larger range for ports especially for Bedrock servers (~54,000 ports). All Java edition servers are now in a separate much smaller port range (~1,000 ports). Statistically, the port should only change every 18,000 starts.

We hope this works as expected and reduces the problems with the Bedrock servers.

    Have fun!
