PEX not working

PermissionsEX is not working. I have essentials chat and vault but it still doesn't work. No prefixes/suffixes show up in chat and none of the permissions allocated to the groups work. I do not know what is wrong. I have scanned the Aternos Forums for a thread that would help me but couldn't find one. I have had the problem ever since i started using PEX on a Aternos Server. Please help

Do you have '*' permission and ChatEx?
If you don't have '*' permission, follow my instructions:

For PermissionsEX:

1.
Go to the Console.

2.
Type the 'pex user <name> add *'

3.
If you see in Console to PermissionsEx wrote "Permissions */ added!" go to the PermissionsEx folder and permissions.yml

4.
Open the permissions.yml and fix that */ to '*'

For ChatEx:

1. Download the plugin.

2. Open the ChatEx forder and the config.yml

3. Edit the %prefix%displayname%suffix:%message to %prefix %displayname %suffix %message

For prefix and suffix:

Use this command for prefix: /pex group <group> prefix <prefix>

Use this command for suffix: /pex group <group> suffix <suffix>

Oh I forgot, if your group don't have OP or * permission, add to the selected group this permission:
chatex.allowchat
Command: /pex group <group> add <permission>
