What to do before, during, and after you ask your question.

  • So in my time of being a Helper (AKA since last August with a little temporary break) I've picked up on some annoying things, mainly regarding the questions asked, and how I've taken my time to do something the person who asked the question should've done themselves before asking. This is sort of a list of what people should do before asking a question, but by all means feel free to do more. I just recommend doing the items on this list before you make me spend time looking up why you keep getting disconnected or why this one plugin won't work (hint: It's most likely outdated)

    Before asking your question

    Keep in mind the Discord is not the official support place. If you want support from the team directly, your best bet is going to https://support.aternos.org/ and finding your issue there.

    1. Look it up. I can't stress how many times I've gone and looked the question up, only to find the answer for the question. We aren't here to answer questions that are already answered such as broken plugins, etc.

    2. Check to see if your question has been asked recently. If it's a common question, such as broken plugins, then we've most likely answered it within the past day or so. Quickly scroll up at least 1 channel before you go ahead and ask a repeat


    While asking your question

    1. Make sure it makes sense. If we can't understand it, we won't answer it. Simple as that

    2. Be detailed. If you say "my server won't work", that's not helpful. If you give the details an hour later, that's just wasting our time.

    3. Don't waste our time. If we ask a question back to help you, we're not going to wait 4 hours for you to reply. This also means don't ask a question right before you hit the sack. Of course, if we roll around to your question while you've been asleep for 3 hours, that's on us.

    4. Don't post your question multiple times. Once is enough, and most of us will get around to it when we're online. This also goes for pings.


    Please. Calm. Down. With. The. Helper. Pings. For. Gods. Sake.

    5. For the love of god, don't get impatient with us. I can't stress how many times I've seen a question get asked, and then 10 minutes later people are saying "oh useless helpers" "oh the helpers don't help me" "the support team sucks". It's been damn 10 minutes. We have lives too, we aren't slaves to the system. We're here because we want to be here


    After asking your question

    1. Be patient. We'll get around to to it when we can

    2. If we reply, we will most likely ping you. Make sure you can quickly reply to us so we can continue helping

    3. If the answer we gave you does not seem to work, try repeating the process again (BAYQ #1)


    Well I hope some of you actually read this and actually follow the steps. I understand other helpers may have different opinions on this matter, but this is my view and imo, the easiest way to save our time and your time.
