I don't think they can "fix" the plugin as they do not own it, they can update it but the author has to fix it and then release a new version so aternos can update it for the fixed version.

When I try to install the plugin the check will appear, but the file will not go into my plugins folder.

Unfortunately this is due to a bug in spiget API we use to download plugins from spigotmc.org

We can not change that, sorry. We have to wait until that bug is fixed
