Please, correct the search engine mods / plugins, using it is a nightmare. You should be able to at least choose the version of the mods or plugins you are looking for and not be forced to open hundreds of mods that do not fit your version.
Sometimes you just do not know the name of the mods and sometimes you just want to find something from the list, but it is pointless to search along with the mods for outdated or other versions.

Why don't you just search up the mods on curseforge / spigotmc.org / dev.bukkit etc?
-
1. Not all mods are added to aternos and writing constantly applications for adding a mod is tedious.
2. Copying a hundred names will not be able to find them later, it's gently saying flustrating.
3. Mods differ from plugins in that they will not work on a different version of forge than given. So why not just make a life easier?
-

We don't want just add all mods to our system without any type of checking from our side.
3. Mods differ from plugins in that they will not work on a different version of forge than given.
Yep. Until some weeks we had a filter system for mods that only shows mods versions which are compatible with your installed version. Due to latest changes of the curseforge website this is not possible.
To create such a search feature you expect a lot of effort would be required. We would need to create something like a database clone of the curseforge mod directory. This database system would need to be redundant and scaleable. In addition systems which keeps this database in sync maybe very error-prone due.
It is much more work than just updating the search field and add some filters.
Right now the effort required to set that up is much higher than the benefit.

What a pity, but I understand that it would be hard for you to do it in this case.
I hope that circumstances will change and you will be able to use filters again on the mods, greetings. -
I was going to make a similar suggestion, so maybe it can fit here instead.
A possible solution to the implementation of filters in the plugin section could be community based filtering.
Users could confirm which plugins work on certain versions, and that data could be used to help filter out what you want. Let me give a quick example on how it could work:
User downloads "emerald example v1.0" on his "spigot-1.13 server"
Confirms it's working, so that plugin could be added to the '1.13 compatible plugins list'
Another user downloads "emerald example v1.0" on his "spigot-1.14 server"Confirms it's working, so that plugin could also be added to the '1.14 compatible plugins list'
Lots of users have been downloading "ruby example v1.0" on their "spigot-1.14 servers", but have been reporting it as incompatible, so the plugin could get into the '1.14 incompatible plugins list'
After a while, an update comes out for "ruby example" now 'v1.1'. This new version would be able to get into the '1.14 compatible plugins list'.
Some UI changes would be required on the plugins main page (for the filtering of "Downloaded Plugins" and "Compatible Versions"), to each plugin's page (the addition of version badges, matching to the user's server version for each released version and a "thumbs up/down" for the filtering).
I'm sure I didn't think of everything that would be possible, but maybe it'll give some ideas on how to possibly work on the filtering system. -
That's basically a good idea but it doesn't work on Aternos.
This concept only works if the users on which the data is based have some idea of plugins and are able to distinguish between
- The plugin does not work on the corresponding version
- The plugin has a bug which only occurs in a special scenario
- The plugin has not been configured as intended
- The plugin has been configured incorrectly
- The error occurs to protect against something worse (e.g. world losses etc.).
- I don't even know how the plugin works.
- I'm just stupid.
etc.
Based on the experience we've had in the Minecraft world, and especially with our users, I'm pretty sure that this will backfire.
I'm not saying that everyone has no idea but it's true that a lot of our users are quite young and simply have no experience and knowledge about minecraft servers, plugins and mods to make such decisions.
I mean, the problem isn't just with us. Have a look at the comments, bug reports and ratings of the plugins on spigotmc.org / dev.bukkit.org. It's easy to see who knows and who's new.
