  • I would like to be able to edit config files when using a modpack.

Currently, if I load forge, I can then install individual mods, and on the Files tab, I can access config, mods, and the world folder.

This lets me go into the config folder and edit the cfg files, to change settings, and this works fine. I appreciate that flexibility. That's great, and I'm happy to see that here. I can almost accomplish what I need by selecting individual mods that a modpack uses, but there are a few that aren't available, and in some cases, the specific version of forge isn't available either.

However, the option to edit config files isn't available when using a modpack. We lose config and mods folder, only getting the worlds folder. I can appreciate the potential difficulties in providing unique instances of the mods folder. Being able to disable a mod, or add a (provisioned) mod to a pack is really just a matter of managing a link, but it's not a trivial amount of work.

The config folder is alot smaller, and should pose less of a problem for letting people have a copy of it, like what is done for individual mods. (or a snapshot of them, depending on the underlying filesystem in use, or maybe a link until it's edited at which point it becomes a copy) . I'd like to be able to make changes (or in some cases, remove config files that are still included in a modpack, even though the mod isn't: like mopheus.cfg with RLCraft.

I know if this had a quick-fix, it would most likely already be done. I'm just hopeful that we can flush out the "Fully Customizable" feature.

We already answered that question multiple times.

As you already figured out, full customisation is only possible with forge.

The main reason why we can not provide customisation of Modpacks is because of technical reasons. While it looks not that difficult from an outer view Modpacks and forge servers work completely different under the hood.

Changing that wouldn’t only cause much effort to implement it would also come with some side-effects we have to deal with

  • I appreciate you taking the time to answer; I'm sure it gets old.

I figured it was fairly different, or it would have been done already. I was just taking a guess. :)

    Thank you.
