  • Dear Aternos staff,

Could you please add the following LOTRmod focussed technic modpack(s) for MC 1.7.10 to your approved list?: Ilurambar and/or WOTRMC

    Ilurambar
This pack was created by me for a LOTR modded roleplay survival server called 'Ilu Ambar - Quenta Arda' which is also managed by me. For a small group of younger and trusted family and friends I now wish to create another server using that modpack on Aternos. That server will have less strict settings and rules regarding roleplay, and also a much smaller player community. I have just created an Aternos server account called 'Faelind.aternos.me' that I wish to use for creation of the planned server with this modpack.

The modpack is provided for use on both clients and servers and is maintained adequately. It is created to experience the LOTRMod for both experienced and unexperienced players. The server pack includes a few mods that allow server staff to adequately manage player access and interactions, specifically for immersive roleplay and building focussed communities. All included mods work well together on the aforementioned server.

The client modpack includes the following mods:

    • LOTRMod : Mother of all mods, creating a different MC game
    • fastcraft : Optimizes client and server performance
    • Journeymap : Map mod, especially handy for the massive world of Middle-earth
    • CodeChickenCore and CodeChickenLib : Mods supporting NEI
    • NotEnoughItems : Player utility mod
    • neiRecipeHandlers and neiLotr : NEI for the LOTRMod
    • Emmaitar and neiEmmaitar : Custom images, usable when server supported
    • Waila : What am I looking at?
    • bspkrsCore, ArmorStatusHUD and StatusEffectHUD : Player gui info
    • Beter HUD by NukeDuck : Player gui info
    • BetterHorseHud : Player gui info

The server modpack contains the following mods and their respective configuration files:

    • LOTRMod
    • fastcraft
    • ModControl : Control allowance of mods by players on your server
    • MobiusCore and Opis : Monitor server performance killers
    • FastLeafDecay : Much player convenience, especially for mods adding massive trees
    • PvP Mode : Adds tons of options for server staff to optimise pvp combat interaction
    • Journeymap : When installed on server helps to manage player radar and cave mapping
    • Emmaitar and neiEmmaitar : Server can support custom paintings, very nice for themed servers like LOTRMod based servers

    Alternative: WOTRMC

Alternatively, there is a more widely used technic modpack focussed on LOTRMod experience called War of the Ring MC. It achieved about 4k downloads by now. Here's the link to that modpack: WOTRMC

The cleint modpack version contains the following mods:

    • LOTRMod
    • fastcraft
    • Journeymap
    • Optifine
    • CodeChickenCore, NotEnoughItems, neiRecipeHandlers and neilotr
    • Ambience, AnimationAPI, ArchimedesShips, ArmourersWorkshop, CustomNPCs, DragonMounts and MorePlayerModels
    • BetterHUDbyNukeDuck, BetterLoadingScreen, CustomMainMenu, ResourceLoader and WorldEditCuiFe

Note: I contacted the WOTRMC modpack author, SlayingSlayer, to check for his approval for me proposing to add his modpack here and on the status of a server modpack variant. He supports the request and confirmed the modpack also has a server version.

I hope you will consider this and be able to add one of these modpacks soon.

    Thanks in advance & Cheers,

Changed the title of the thread from “Add Technicpack Ilurambar” to “[Modpack Request] Ilurambar (Technic)”.
  • Just noted a Helper on this forum gave the request a thumbsdown. I'd appreciate if anyone who responds in such manner to provide a motivation to clarify their negative feedback. Thumbsdown reactions without any clarification are rather pointless imo. Moreover, helpers only responding with a dislike symbol are effectively not helping.

  • Someone just tried to explain the Helpers dislike reaction to me on my wall by assuming it may be because the modpack has only been downloaded 109 times. This is my response to that possible explanation:

Thanks for trying to clarify that dislike.

If number of downloads is a hard criterion, I wonder how on earth we can get a LOTRMod server up on Aternos. I know the LOTRMod isn't on CurseForge because of copyright reasons for its maker, who spend thousands of hours of work on his unsurpassed game changing mod and CurseForge simply doesn't adequately protect authors.

I saw a modpack including the LOTRMod on the Aternos modpack list though, LoTRCircles. But that modpack includes a number of mods that are absolutely superfluous to just experience the LOTRMod as it is meant to be experienced. Some mods in that pack simply ruin the LOTRMod experience in various ways. And that modpack also makes a server require much more memory and cpu capacity than needed when one merely focusses on experiencing the LOTRMod.

    So, what do you suggest?

    Ilurambar: Not popular enough

Only the thread creator and the Aternos team can reply to a thread. Moderators/Helpers dislike posts if they think the requested resource can not be added, but the final decision is made by the Aternos team.

If you need further discussion about how/why we add/or not add modpacks please create a separate thread in a other subforum. This subforum is only for requests and only for requests.
